Night of the Living Crickets…

12:25pm Thursday, October 23rd, 2008 by Sapphire

Ok, I know that most of you already feel that Paddy’s CMs are not quite all there… But after you have read my true story of the week, I hope that you will appreciate that I, at least, am normal (well kind of..!)

It started off a few week’s ago in fact, when I bought two tiny Rankin’s Dragons. Rankin’s Dragons, for those of you who are unfamiliar, are in fact, reptiles - lizards, to be more exact. I’ve always wanted a lizard, and these two cuties were irresistably gorgeous, and they were waving frantically at me in the shop and mouthing “buy me mum, buy me mum!” through the glass jail that was their temporary home… So I simply had to oblige and made my purchase.

My Funny First Date - by Fozziebear

11:24am Friday, July 18th, 2008 by Bingo Team

I had agreed to go on a blind date with my brother his wife and the office receptionist who they said was really nice. We agreed to meet up in a Manchester restaurant at 6pm that night,

I got my glad rags on and off I went to the restaurant, I told the Front of house staff I was meeting the ?? Party and he pointed over to the far side of the restaurant; I only saw a large table with a very pretty young lady sat there alone. So marched over said hi I’m John, have the other’s not arrived yet, “No” she said.

I sat down Ordered Drinks and started chatting right away and I thought wow this is nice we have hit it off right away. About ten mins later the others turned up. But to my surprise, it was not my brothers party, they were sat round the corner, I was so embarrassed, made my apologies and exchanged numbers, then went to the other table.

My brother said I was mad and introduced me to the young lady he had fetched, while she was nice I could not stop thinking about the other girl. I know what you all thinking – Did I call her? Yes and we hit it off so much we married and lived together for 27 years.

She passed away 2 years ago now and of course I miss her so much, but sharing this with you has made me smile so much.

House

Recently, a friend of mine asked me to mind her house and kids while she went in to have her baby. I assume this was because she trusted me. Have no idea who gave her the impression i was trustworthy but anyway I agreed.

Everything went well until the night before she was due home. I was cooking dinner and was on the phone to a friend of my friend (wondering if she’d had the baby etc). I completely forgot the pan was on and by the time I smelled the burning it was too late.

The pan was on fire so naturally I did the first thing that came into my head. I panicked. Grabbed the flaming pan (phone still in hand) and ran to back door which was locked. I then ran to front door but oil was spilling on the rug in the hall and setting rug alight. As i tried toopen the front door the pan tilted and spilled all over the arm of the sofa which was just inside the door. the sofa then proceeded to go up in flames. Any way, eventually got the door open threw the pan out into the front garden and put the fire out.

Yer one was still on the phone and heard all and I couldn’t even play it down as i had been shouting fire. Anyway my friend came home new baby and all, thankfully house somewhat intact but was not impressed. She still talks to me but never asks me to do anything which requires being responsible!!

Thanks to every who sent their stories and lovely photos of their pets.

Elvis

Hello everyone,

For 16 years growing up in my house we had a dog “Elvis” whom we got when I was just 5. With four girls in the house and he the only male he was of coarse adored! We were all so devestated when we had to put him down 3 years ago due to old age. We were all by his side when he had his last few minutes in the world and he knew it. We always had a dog in our house so when Elvis was gone it was time for a knew one dog to look after. Although he would never be forgotten, Mum being in the house on her own when we all were at work needed the company - so we got Mollie a dulux dog! (more…)

Roomie’s Story of the Week - Booms

1:37pm Friday, June 27th, 2008 by Bingo Team

Congratulations to Booms who is the well deserved winner of a cool 20BB’s for story of the week - DIY Disasters.

Here is the winning story:

Hi all,

This is my story of our DIY disaster. About a month ago we were decorating the upstairs of our house, we had painted the bedroom walls, got the floors sanded and re-varnished and had just finished. We decided to paint the hall and landing so we started about 3 o’ clock. We hadn’t time to cook dinner so we ordered in a take-away. We were sitting down eating our dinner when our three year old son had to go to the toilet, so off he went. About 3 minutes later he appeared saying he was helping to paint, his man-united jersey and hands covered in paint. To say i wasn’t pleased was an understatement. Then the arguement began between my hubby and I, about who left the paint out, in the end men are always right so i took the blame. I washed his hands and changed his clothes. After eating we cleaned up and went back to finish.

When we got to the top of the stairs we found the paint spilled over on the carpet bad enough as that was the little monkey had ventured into the bedroom where on the floor was yet again his beautiful handiwork, and on the wall at the back of the room yet more paint (in big chunks). If i could have killed him I would have, but he just kept saying “but mammy I was helping am i not good” I was nearly crying not only with madness but the innocence of him. There was nothing we could do the damage was already done.

The floor in the bedroom was okay the paint just washed off it and we had to re-paint the back wall in the bedroom, but we had to replace the carpet in the hall, stairs, and landing which cost us 400.00.

We have now decided that in future we will get painters in to do the job, in the end it would probably work out cheaper.

Booms.
