13 years ago last christmas my husband surprized me with an 8 week old yorkshire terrier. He said it was a boy so I called it Alf the same as the one I had before him that was killed by a bigger dog. He was told when he bought it that it had a hernia that needed looking after. But this tiny little puppy also had a very bad cough so I took it to the vet only to find out it was a girl and not one hernia but two he said the cough was very bad and she would be like a child with asthma. He said I should cut my losses and have her put down. I could not do that to the poor little thing so I said there must be sometihg you can give her for the cough so I was back week after week finally we got a tablet that was working for her. I put a relic of Saint Martin in her basket with her to mind and protect her.On a later visit the vet went to check her hernia and he could not believe they had disappeared so she didn’t need an operation. She became a great pet would nearly talk to you.She is thirteen years old now and she still looks so young she seems to have eternal youth I think. She is always beside me when I am on playing paddy’s bingo soon she will start to call the numbers.
